Who You Talk To
Votejournalist Plumbing does not employ plumbers. When you reach out, your request goes to an independent provider in our network. That provider is the person or business you will speak with, schedule with and pay.
This page explains what to expect, so a first-time call feels routine.
What Happens After You Reach Out
1. You describe the problem and your address area. 2. Your details go to a provider who serves that area. 3. The provider contacts you to ask questions and discuss options. 4. If you agree, the provider schedules a visit.
Timing depends on the provider. Many can respond quickly, but we cannot promise a window. Request a callback to check availability.
Before the Provider Arrives
Stop the water. Find the main shutoff valve, usually near the water meter, at the street side of the house or where the main line enters. Turn it clockwise until it stops. Clear the area under any leak and move valuables out of the way.
What to Ask an Independent Provider
Keep the questions short and direct.
- Will you give me a written quote before work starts?
- What does the quote include, and what could change it?
- Is there a fee just to diagnose the problem?
- Will you explain the cause in plain terms?
- Can you help document damage for an insurance claim?
- Is there a warranty on the work, and what does it cover?
Providers set their own warranties, so get the terms in writing.

You can compare quotes. You can ask for a second opinion. You can say no. There is no obligation to hire the provider we connect you with.
Be cautious if anyone pushes you to sign before you have read the quote.
